Your recent company This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented Purchasing Clerk to join a busy Procurement & Supply team based in Newcastle. This role will suit someone with strong administration skills, purchasing experience and a customer-focused approach who enjoys working with internal stakeholders, vendors and accounts payable teams to keep purchasing processes running smoothly.
Your new role
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Clerk will provide purchasing, administrative and clerical support across the purchase-to-pay process. The role is responsible for converting approved purchase requisitions into purchase orders, supporting vendor onboarding and vendor file maintenance, managing purchasing queries, assisting with reporting and supporting month-end processes.
Key responsibilities
- Receive, review and verify purchase requisitions for accuracy, completeness and compliance with purchasing procedures.
- Convert approved requisitions into purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support month-end purchasing and administrative processes.
- Respond to vendor enquiries and assist with resolving purchasing-related issues, including pricing discrepancies.
- Maintain and update vendor records, files and onboarding documentation.
- Provide general administrative support to the procurement team, including shared inbox management and reporting.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders,
suppliers and accounts payable to support an efficient purchase-to-pay process.
- Contribute to process improvements and support a safe, collaborative and compliant working environment.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be organised, accurate and proactive, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a strong service focus. You will enjoy working as part of a team and building positive relationships with stakeholders across the business.
Skills and experience
- Experience in purchasing, procurement administration or a related role.
- Experience using ERP or purchasing systems; exposure to Pulse Mining and/or SAP would be highly regarded.
- High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational skills, self-discipline and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Confident working with vendors, internal stakeholders and accounts payable teams.
- Positive, down-to-earth approach with integrity, initiative and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to use systems to support reporting, insights and process improvement.
