Role Description
The BAE Jetstream 41 Pilot role at FlyPelican is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Newcastle Area. The pilot is responsible for safely operating scheduled and charter flights in accordance with company standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day tasks include pre-flight planning, performance and fuel calculations, conducting thorough inspections of the aircraft, and coordinating with crew and ground staff to ensure timely departures and arrivals. The role involves managing in-flight navigation and communication, monitoring aircraft systems, and responding effectively to changing weather and operational conditions. The pilot will provide professional customer service,
complete all necessary flight documentation, participate in recurrent training and checks, and contribute to a strong safety and reporting culture.
Qualifications
- Current Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or Air Transport Pilot License (ATPL) with multi-engine instrument rating and a Jetstream 41 type rating.
- Demonstrated experience in multi-crew, turbine aircraft operations within commercial or regional airline environments.
- Strong flight planning, navigation, and aircraft performance skills, including use of up-to-date avionics and flight management systems.
- Proven adherence to safety management systems, standard operating procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Effective crew resource management, communication, and teamwork skills in a multi-crew cockpit environment.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure, manage workload, and maintain situational awareness in dynamic conditions.
- Professional customer service orientation with a respectful, inclusive approach to colleagues and passengers.
- Class 1 medical certificate and ability to meet company fitness and duty requirements; eligibility to work in Australia.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules, including weekends and public holidays; willingness to participate in recurrent training and checks.
- Previous regional airline or charter experience in Australia and knowledge of local routes and conditions are highly regarded.
