Intelligence Analyst – Intelligence Unit – Data, Intelligence & Analytics Directorate – Building Commission NSW.
Grade: Clerk Grade 5/6. Employment type: Full time ongoing. Location: Parramatta (Hybrid working arrangements available).

We are recruiting an experienced Intelligence Analyst to join the Intelligence Unit at Building Commission NSW.
This is a hands‑on operational intelligence role, suited to intelligence professionals with experience in regulatory, compliance, investigative or law‑enforcement environments who want their work to directly influence frontline operations, enforcement activity and public safety outcomes.

About the Intelligence Unit
The Intelligence Unit is a specialist function that supports operational decision making, compliance activity and enforcement action through timely, high-quality intelligence.
Our analysts work closely with operational teams and external partners to:
- Identify high risk entities and behaviours
- Inform licensing,
audit and investigation priorities
- Support coordinated compliance operations and regulatory interventions
- Provide intelligence for states significant initiatives and joint agency activity
- The focus is intelligence tradecraft, judgement and operational relevance.
Your impact
As an Intelligence Analyst, you will:
- Produce intelligence products that support licensing, investigations, compliance activities and operational decision‑making.
- Analyse information to identify risks, trends, associations and opportunities for regulatory action.
- Develop profiles and assessments of individuals, companies and industries to support regulatory priorities.
- Present complex information in a clear, concise and actionable format for decision‑makers.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulatory and law enforcement partners.
- Contribute to a collaborative intelligence team by sharing knowledge and supporting capability development.
What you bring
- Demonstrated experience working in an intelligence environment, preferably within regulatory, compliance, investigative or law enforcement contexts
- Ability to analyse information, identify risks and draw clear, evidence‑based conclusions.
- Experience in producing intelligence products that support operational decision‑making.
- Understanding of information handling,
record management and evidentiary requirements.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently, both in writing and when presenting information to others.
- Experience with data and analytical tools is valuable, however, the emphasis is on intelligence judgement, tradecraft and operational relevance, not model building or dashboard development.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent professional experience in intelligence, law enforcement, regulation, investigations, criminology or a related field
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline National Security Clearance
- National Police Check
- Willingness to undergo probity screening in line with relevant legislation and policies
Salary Grade 0506, with the base salary for this role starting at 102,936 base plus superannuation
