Hervey Bay Positive Learning Centre is seeking a Head of Department - Student Services for this dynamic and strategic leadership role. In this role you will be responsible for leading the centres student wellbeing, inclusion, engagement and support services. The ideal candidate will be an experienced educational leader with outstanding interpersonal skills, a commitment to equity and excellence, and the ability to build strong partnerships that deliver improved outcomes form students. Hervey Bay Positive Learning Centre is located within the grounds of Yarrilee State School.

About The Role

- Lead strategic initiatives to improve student outcomes by implementing innovative, evidence-based strategies that enhance student achievement, attendance, engagement, and equitable learning opportunities, particularly for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Strengthen student support and intervention by monitoring student performance, attendance, and wellbeing, coordinating targeted interventions,



and supporting the successful transition and integration of current arrivals through academic, social, and emotional support.
- Build collaborative partnerships by working with parents, school leaders, teachers, higher education providers, community organisations, businesses, and external agencies to improve student engagement, achievement, and attendance.
- Support school leadership and operational effectiveness by providing data analysis and reporting, developing tools and resources for school staff, and contributing to informed decision-making and continuous school improvement.
- Promote inclusive practice and effective governance by embedding socially just practices, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies, and contributing to the effective management of school resources to achieve strategic goals.
