Grosvenor Mine is an underground steelmaking coal mine located in Moranbah, QLD, about 190 km south‑west of Mackay. We are building a team to deliver the next chapter of Grosvenor Mine and are looking for a permanent Geologist to manage and support the mine’s geological operations.

Job Description

The Geologist will effectively manage the geological database (structures, quality, borehole status), provide inputs into and updates of the site geological model (Minex), and give timely advice on exploration requirements and geological hazards that may impact safety or production to Mine Management and the Geotechnical Engineer. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will be accountable for driving geological support across the mine.

Responsibilities

- Regular underground longwall and development mapping, auditing and reporting of geological issues to management and operations.
- Provide geological inputs into surface and underground drilling operations and review/interpreting borehole data.
- Provide geological support for safe and efficient production.
- Maintain geological, geotechnical, borehole, coal quality, gas desorption and hydrogeological databases.
- Contribute geological inputs to permit‑to‑mine documentation including grade plans, fault plans, borehole intersection notices, contour plans and geological hazard plans.
- Improve the quality of technical services deliverables to be fit‑for‑purpose and bridge the gap between design and practicality.
- Plan exploration, gas compliance drilling, sampling and other geological related studies.
- Assist the Technical Services team in delivering targets safely,



optimally and in accordance with the annual mine plan.

Qualifications

- Tertiary qualification in Geological Sciences or equivalent.
- Experience working at an underground coal mine.
- Spatial design skills and awareness.
- Underground mining operations experience (desirable).
- Experience using AutoCAD and Minex (or similar software) desirable.
- Detailed understanding of the coal mining processes.
- High level of planning and problem‑solving ability.
- Well‑developed communication and collaboration skills.
