Role Description

The Domestic & Family Violence Support Worker role is a full-time, on-site position based in Ingham, QLD, working across week and weekend rosters. In this role, the worker provides crisis response, safety planning, and practical support to individuals and families experiencing domestic and family violence. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, maintaining accurate case notes, coordinating referrals to specialist services, and following risk management and safety protocols. The worker collaborates with community partners, participates in case meetings, and supports clients to access housing, legal, health, and financial assistance. The role also involves community outreach, education activities, and adherence to organizational policies, confidentiality requirements,



and ethical practice standards.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated skills in Social Work and Family Services, with the ability to support individuals and families experiencing domestic and family violence.
- Experience in Case Management, including assessment, planning, coordination of services, and maintaining accurate records.
- Capability in Working With Children, including understanding child safety, trauma-informed practice, and family-centered approaches.
- Strong Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build trust, manage sensitive conversations, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in social work, community services, psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience), and eligibility to obtain required clearances (e.g., working with children check, police check).
- Knowledge of domestic and family violence dynamics, risk assessment, and safety planning, including cultural sensitivity and awareness of diverse communities.
- Ability to work within a rostered environment, including weekends, maintain professional boundaries, and practice self-care and resilience in challenging situations.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and case management systems, and a current driver’s license for outreach and home visits as required.
