Position Information

About the Role

Technology Support Officers work within the school providing support for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems to ensure smooth day to day operation. Technology Support Officers provide support to teachers and students with technology related issues and ensure that ICT services are operating at agreed levels by working collaboratively with other ICT staff.

Hunter River High School is a comprehensive secondary school located on Worimi land near the Hunter River in Heatherbrae, south of Raymond Terrace. With enrolments between 780 and 810 students, 23% identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, reflecting a diverse community. The school employs around 72-74 teaching and 26-28 non-teaching staff, supported by additional roles for key initiatives.

The leadership team combines experienced and new leaders, fostering dynamic governance. The school offers 14 inclusive education classes within the RISE Faculty, providing personalised learning for students with diverse needs. Current infrastructure upgrades include a new administration building, special education unit, gymnasium, upgraded kitchen and art rooms, and a refurbished Wellbeing Hub.

Hunter River High School values robust partnerships with parents, local organisations like the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group,



cultural institutions, businesses, and educational partners including the University of Newcastle. The school offers targeted programs for gifted students and strong vocational education pathways.

Students engage in diverse activities such as sports, arts, leadership, cultural programs, and STEM. The curriculum includes academic courses and nationally accredited Vocational Education and Training. As a P-TECH school, Hunter River collaborates with industry partners like Varley Group, BAE Systems, Ampcontrol, Tomago Aluminium, and Regional Development Australia to support student pathways.
