Role Description
This full time LIGHT VEHICLE MECHANIC role at Penrith Engine Services is an on-site position based in Jamisontown, NSW. The mechanic will perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of light vehicles, including engine, suspension, brake, and cooling system work. Daily tasks include inspecting vehicles, identifying faults, using diagnostic equipment, completing service schedules, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards. The role involves collaborating with the workshop team, communicating clearly with service staff, maintaining accurate records of work performed, and keeping the workspace clean and organized. The mechanic will also assist with parts selection, provide input on repair estimates, and support continuous improvement of workshop processes.
Qualifications
- Formal qualification as a light vehicle mechanic or equivalent trade certification, with proven experience servicing and repairing light vehicles.
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills, including the ability to use modern diagnostic tools and interpret technical information and service manuals.
- Solid understanding of vehicle electrical, engine, brake, steering, and suspension systems, with a focus on safe and efficient repair practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage time effectively, and handle multiple jobs in a busy workshop environment.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly and document work performed accurately.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety, attention to detail, and a high standard of workmanship and customer service.
- Current valid driver's license; prior experience in engine reconditioning or performance work is advantageous.
