Job description: SAP HR & Payroll Lead

Experience: 10+ Years - Implementation

1. Role Overview

The SAP HR & Payroll Lead is responsible for managing, designing, implementing, and supporting SAP HR & Payroll solutions, including SuccessFactors , Employee Central Payroll (ECP), and on-premise SAP HCM. This role will oversee end to end payroll processes, ensure compliance, lead enhancements, coordinate with business stakeholders, and guide functional consultants in delivering high quality HR & Payroll services.

2. Key Responsibilities

Functional Leadership





- Lead the HR & Payroll stream for SAP implementations, upgrades, and AMS engagements.
- Act as the primary SME for Payroll configuration, schemas, rules, wagetypes, time evaluation, and HR core modules (PA, OM, Time, Benefits).
- Provide expert guidance on end to end Payroll processes, statutory requirements, and integration touchpoints.
- Review and validate functional specifications, test scripts, and solutions delivered by the team.

Implementation & Support

- Manage payroll cycles, parallel testing, payroll simulation, and payroll reconciliation activities.
- Drive configuration for PA/OM/Time/Payroll and support country specific localization (Australia).
- Ensure compliance with statutory updates (taxation, leave rules, superannuation, reporting requirements).
- Oversee integrations with finance, time systems, and third party vendors (e.g., banking, benefits, rostering).

Stakeholder Management

- Engage with HR, Finance, IT, Compliance, and Audit teams to understand requirements and propose solutions.
- Conduct workshops, requirement gathering sessions, and process mapping activities.
- Present solution options, risk assessments, and improvement opportunities.
- Guide and mentor HR/Payroll functional consultants and offshore members.
- Review deliverables, allocate tasks, and maintain strong governance standards.
- Ensure documentation, SOPs, knowledge articles, and KT plans are up to date.




- Identify opportunities to optimize current HR/Payroll processes through automation, standardization, and innovation.
- Drive enhancements such as payroll analytics, audit automation, ESS/MSS improvements, and UI/UX upgrades.
- Support audit requirements, incident analysis, defect prevention, and service quality improvements.

3. Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

- Strong hands on experience in SAP HR/HCM modules: OM, Time Management, Payroll (mandatory), Advantages Administration.
- Deep knowledge of Payroll schemas, PCRs, wage types, retrocalculation, taxation rules, and statutory requirements.
- Experience with SAP ECP (Employee Central Payroll) is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of SuccessFactors HR modules (EC, Time Off, Recruiting) is an added advantage.
- Experience in integration technologies (IDocs, BAPIs, CPI, ALE).

Professional Skills

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability.
- Ability to translate business requirements into SAP solutions.
- Experience leading offshore/onshore delivery teams.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize effectively.

4. Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in IT, HR, Business, or related field.
- 8–12 years of SAP HR/Payroll experience with at least 3+ years in a lead role
