This is a Fixed Term chance with an immediate start through to June 2028 with the possibility of extension or permanency.

We are seeking a highly organised and adaptable Program Officer to support the delivery of two key strategic programs. Working in an agile and collaborative environment, you will provide program coordination, analysis, and governance support that contributes to the successful delivery of the Murujuga Rock Art Monitoring Strategy and the National Water Grid Water Infrastructure Program.

This is a varied role where you'll work closely with internal and external stakeholders, which include state and federal government agencies, Government Trading Enterprises, technical experts, decision‑makers, industry representatives, Traditional Owners, Aboriginal Corporations and the community.

We are looking for someone who can confidently manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment, analyse complex information, and provide practical, evidence‑based advice. You will need to be agile and adaptable, with the ability to effectively manage workloads, meet deadlines, exercise sound judgement, and deliver high‑quality outcomes.

You will contribute to program planning, reporting, stakeholder engagement, contract administration and continuous improvement activities, ensuring programs are delivered effectively and in line with legislative, policy and organisational requirements.

You will be a strong communicator with experience preparing high‑quality reports, briefings and correspondence, and a proven ability to build effective relationships. Experience in governance, reporting,

procurement and contract administration will be highly regarded.

You will also demonstrate an understanding of Aboriginal culture and a proven ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with Aboriginal organisations.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to influence important environmental initiatives while developing your career in a collaborative and purpose‑driven organisation, we encourage you to apply.

At the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, we are committed to fostering a modern workplace that supports flexibility, collaboration, and wellbeing.

Our flexible work arrangements include options for alternative work locations and adaptable schedules, designed to accommodate a variety of professional and personal needs.

We recognise that effective work can happen in different settings, and our approach reflects this, enabling staff to contribute meaningfully while maintaining balance and resilience.

We are committed to creating an equitable and diverse workforce that promotes an inclusive and supportive workplace environment. We value the unique diversity of experience that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, people from culturally diverse backgrounds, women and youth bring to our workforce.

Join us and be part of a department that values innovation, inclusivity, and the evolving nature of work.
