Project Overview

The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia, located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company. Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure.

Job Summary

Provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Ensure field engineering activities operate safely, and meet quality standards and project requirements.

Major Responsibilities

- Specialization & Expertise – Provide knowledge and expertise in a particular discipline or specialized process required for construction (e.g., tunnel boring, site de-watering, glove boxes, special coatings systems, HVAC systems, Fire Detection and Suppression, reactor tender gallery coordinator, etc.). Provide technical consultation support to projects.
- Work Planning & Packaging – Prepare construction drawings and sketches; lead preparation of construction drawings and schedules and design of temporary construction facilities, ensuring preparation of "as built" drawings and other job plans.
- Material Management – Initiate requisitions for field purchases; prepare quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
- Quantities – Lead verification of commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.




- Safety / Quality Control – Ensure zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others; ensure tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Technical – Proactively consider continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
- STR / Subcontract Coordinator – Review and approve inspection test plans.

Education And Experience Requirements

Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience or 12–14 years of relevant work experience (CPEng preferred). Experience in engineering of process plants or materials handling plants in Australia.

Required Knowledge And Skills

- Strong knowledge of project engineering processes and procedures and interaction with other disciplines.
- Experience and proven ability to manage mechanical engineering packages.
- Experience in mechanical construction practices and current knowledge of recent methods of design and construction.
- Effective communication skills along with demonstrated supervision skills.
