About the opportunity

You’ll support young people living in our residential homes, helping them feel safe, valued, and understood. You’ll be hands‑on, present, and a positive role model, guiding them through challenges, cheering on their wins, and providing care that protects their dignity, privacy, and independence.

This role offers a diverse and engaging roster, including a mix of active night shifts, sleepover shifts, afternoon shifts, and weekend work.

This work can be challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. You’ll help build a home setting grounded in respect, stability, and genuine connection, one that supports each young person to grow, heal, and discover their potential.

Responsibilities

You will: be present and supportive in the residential setting; provide guidance and support to young people; maintain a safe, respectful environment; support independence and dignity; work various shifts including nights, afternoons, weekends.

Qualifications

- Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, or other relevant recognised qualification must be held or underway.

If not included in your qualification, you will be required to complete the mandatory units of competency:

- CHCMHS007 – Work effectively in trauma informed care
- CHCPRT009 – Provide primary residential care
- CHCCCS009 – Facilitate responsible behavior
- CHCPRT010 – Work with children and young people with complex trauma and attachment issues and needs

If you do not currently meet the above requirements,



you will have the opportunity to enrol in and start the minimum qualification training upon commencement. This will occur during initial induction (first 2 weeks) before any direct care is provided. It is expected that the mandatory units of competency (including the workplace hours and assessments) are completed within 12 weeks of enrolment. Additionally, if you are undertaking the minimum qualification, you are expected to complete the qualification within the timeframe prescribed by the education training provider.
