About the Role

Geoscience Australia acquires, processes, interprets and delivers precompetitive data and information. This data is instrumental in supporting the organisation's objective to provide high‑quality geoscientific insights to the government, industry, and the community. Through these efforts, Geoscience Australia informs national decision‑making and contributes to the sustainable growth of Australia's resource wealth.

In this role you will support the planning, acquisition and interpretation of nationally significant precompetitive surveys as part of our regional‑scale projects. You will drive stakeholder engagement with landholders, traditional owners, industry and government, manage data acquisition contracts, and ensure highest standards of geoscience data and contract delivery are met. Cooperation and collaboration with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders are essential, and you will have opportunities for business travel and fieldwork.

Responsibilities

- Work as a member of the Regional Geology and Drilling team to plan, design, and manage precompetitive programs, including contract oversight and stakeholder engagement.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of comprehensive documentation, contracts and work instructions for key operational and acquisition activities.
- Maintain existing and grow new strategic and collaborative relationships; retain open lines of communication within Geoscience Australia and with external stakeholders.
- Provide geoscientific interpretations by offering expert technical insights and recommendations.
- Promote Geoscience Australia's work to government, industry, academia and the community through publications and at conferences and workshops.
- Manage and archive data using best practices to ensure its effective delivery to the geoscience community and public.

Qualifications





- Possess relevant experience with the life‑cycle of geoscience data acquisition projects, whether in industry, academia or similar organisations.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders, leveraging strong communication skills to respond to needs, share expectations and foster cooperation.
- Effectively manage and communicate data acquisition projects, overseeing contract execution, setting priorities and exercising sound judgment to meet business goals often within tight timelines.
- Continuously develop and apply specialist geoscience and stakeholder management skills using modern software and industry standards to support the interpretation and integration of data for regional or national geoscience projects.
- Demonstrate personal drive and integrity by adhering to the APS Code of Conduct, embracing accountability, learning from mistakes and nurturing a positive and inclusive organisational culture.
- Take ownership of your work, ensuring the successful and timely completion of tasks and projects while adapting to changing circumstances and maintaining a focus on quality.

- Adhere to Work Health and Safety (WHS) protocols and support a safe working setting by assessing risks, identifying issues, uncertainties and potential hazards, and factoring these into planning, decision‑making and priority‑setting. Ensure safety practices align with industry standards and legislative requirements, promoting a culture of safety.
