About the Role
The Technical Assistant will assist Medical Officers and Registered Nurses in technical procedures and associated tasks including venepuncture, cannulation, ECG recording, venous blood gas sampling, point of care testing, patient observations, with direct reports to the Enrolled or Registered Nurses, and completion of appropriate assessments within SDPR.
Responsibilities
- Assist Medical Officers and Registered Nurses in technical procedures and associated tasks.
- Perform venepuncture, cannulation, ECG recording, venous blood gas sampling, point of care testing, patient observations.
- Report directly to Enrolled or Registered Nurses.
- Complete appropriate assessments within SDPR.
- Demonstrated communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Previous work experience in the health service/hospital environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and in periods of high demand and activity.
- Understanding and commitment to apply the principles of Infection Prevention and Control.
Essential Requirements
- Unlimited working rights in Australia.
- Successfully complete pre-employment checks including reference checks, work rights, criminal history check, and WWCC checks to ensure suitability for the role.
- Provide evidence of immunisation as required for the role (Category A role).
