An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Distribution & Logistics Team Leader to join a well-established Australian manufacturer on a 12-month maternity leave contract. Reporting to the Customer Service & Distribution Manager, you will lead a small team while overseeing day-to-day distribution activities and ensuring customer requirements are delivered efficiently and effectively.This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll coach and develop team members, build strong relationships with transport providers and internal stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service performance and customer outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a team of three Distribution Officers and Analysts across multiple locations.
- Coordinate daily distribution activities to ensure customer service and delivery requirements are met.
- Build strong relationships with transport providers and key internal stakeholders.
- Support initiatives to improve DIFOT performance and operational efficiency.
- Act as an escalation point for distribution and service-related issues.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and team capability development.
- Monitor service performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the ongoing success of the broader supply chain and distribution function.
Requirements
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience within logistics, distribution, transport or supply chain.
- Strong people leadership skills with a passion for coaching, mentoring and developing others.
- Experience working with transport providers, warehousing operations and customer fulfilment activities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- A continuous improvement mindset and commitment to delivering high service levels.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience using ERP systems and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
