Senior Bookkeeper – Independence and Partially Remote at Established Accounting Firm

We're looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to independently run our client bookkeeping, BAS and payroll functions from end to end. Client relationships sit at the heart of this role. You'll be the direct point of contact for your portfolio, communicating with clients daily, answering their queries and becoming their trusted bookkeeping adviser.

We offer genuine flexibility, including the ability to work from home up to two days per week once you've completed probation. We're flexible on hours too, anywhere from around 30 hours per week up to full-time, and happy to structure this across five shorter days if that suits. We're keen to hear what arrangement works best for the right candidate.

Day to day, you'll be:

Communicating directly with clients — responding to queries, providing hands-on support and building robust working relationships

Taking full ownership of BAS preparation and lodgement

Extensive payroll processing experience across a variety of clients, awards and pay structures

Maintaining and refining our Xero-based systems and processes on your own initiative

Assisting with our internal firm accounts as part of the broader role

To succeed, you'll need:





Excellent communication skills and genuine confidence dealing directly with clients — this is a client-facing role, not a back‑office one

At least 5+ years' bookkeeping experience gained within a public practice accounting firm

Solid BAS preparation and payroll experience across a range of clients

Excellent attention to detail and self‑motivated nature

Strong hands‑on Xero skills in a public practice setting

Systems knowledge

Xero

MYOB and/or QuickBooks

Microsoft Word and Excel

FYI Docs (preferred)

Hybrid working — up to 2 days from home per week after probation
