Join us at Melaleuca Therapies, a private practice,based in beautiful East Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. Work alongside Yolngu and Anindilyakwa peoples, amongst beautiful landscapes and generally get away from the fast-paced hustle and bustle. Melaleuca Therapies provides mobile allied health services across the Gove Peninsula, East Arnhem Homelands, and Elcho Island with plans to expand across the East Arnhem region and develop a compassionate and collaborative multidisciplinary team.

We live and work on Yolngu country, a very special part of the world, geographically beautiful and community centered. There are opportunities for travel to remote communities and plenty of time to explore this beautiful part of the world.

Primary Purpose:

The Senior Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist is responsible for overseeing and delivering high-quality,



culturally sensitive and effective occupational therapy/Physiotherapy services (diagnostics, intervention, consultancy) with a primarily paediatric caseload, whilst also supporting the Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Team through clear leadership and clinical expertise.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality, culturally sensitive and effective occupational therapy/physiotherapy assessment and intervention with a paediatric caseload.

Prepare skilled reports in a timely manner for a range of other service providers e.g. NDIS, schools, allied health and medical practitioners, families etc.

Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to occupational therapist, physiotherapist and students, including supporting clinical reasoning, reviewing documentation, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practice, and contributing to the development of clinical capability across the team.

Ensure clinical accountability through the appropriate use of information systems and keeping accurate statistics.

Maintain professional knowledge and skills through active participation in supervision with the Director and other available professional development.

Collaborate with families, educators, community members and multidisciplinary professionals to support integrated and family-centred service delivery.

Foster a positive workplace culture through appropriate and collaborative workplace behaviour.

Adhere to all work, health and safety practices and Melaleuca Therapies policies and procedures.





Supporting with identifying areas for improvement, reviewing current systems, developing quality improvement projects, allocating/supporting staff engagement and implementing outcomes to support workflow/clinical outcomes.

Collaborating with community-based stakeholders to understand community needs and cultural considerations to support effective service provision across the multidisciplinary team.

Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a practising Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist.

Demonstrated relevant clinical experience and/ or strong interest inworking with paediatrics 0-18 years across child development and disability.

Proven ability to plan, prioritise and deliver clinical expertise across a complex workload in a dynamic work environment.

Demonstrated flexibility, high-level problem solving and resilience with the ability to work effectively in remote communities.

Demonstrated high-level interpersonal, exceptional communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills with a strong commitment to professional growth and development.

Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including First Nations people.

Willingness to travel to remote communities by light plane or four-wheel drive vehicle and, where required, stay on community for short periods of time.

Post-graduate qualifications in occupational therapy/physiotherapy, Indigenous Health or similar

Experience working in remote communities and culturally diverse contexts

Experience working with people with disabilities

Knowledge of Australian diagnostic criteria for autism and FASD

Interest in transdisciplinary work

Demonstrated knowledge of neurodiversity-affirming therapy models

Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
