About This Opportunity

Mackay Regional Council is seeking an entry-level Engineer Transport and Traffic to build practical experience in the planning, analysis and delivery of transport and traffic engineering services across our region.

In this role, you will support transport network planning, traffic investigations, road safety initiatives, development assessment advice and practical infrastructure solutions that contribute to community safety, connectivity and regional growth.

Working under guidance, you will assist with technical reporting, traffic and transport assessments, project scoping and concept development, while collaborating with internal teams, external agencies, consultants, contractors and the community.

This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineering professional who is ready to learn, develop technical capability and contribute to projects that make a visible difference across the Mackay region.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills

- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering or a related discipline relevant to the role, or eligibility for graduation prior to commencement.
- A genuine interest in transport planning, traffic engineering, road safety, infrastructure planning or civil engineering project delivery.
- Ability to learn and apply technical standards, legislation, guidelines,



plans and engineering documentation to support practical and compliant outcomes.
- Developing written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear documentation and engage professionally with stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a willingness to manage competing priorities in a busy service delivery environment.
- Current Queensland “C” Class Driver’s Licence or interstate equivalent.
