The business is a leader in its category boasting numerous Australian sites. Reporting into the Operations Director based at one of their largest facilities in Western Sydney, this role takes control of the site maintenance team and all associated budgets with a focus on process and structure of the site trades.
About the role
Reporting to the Operations Director and sitting on their leadership team you will hold full control for maintenance and site based engineering activities. Through your team of circa 12 trades and Engineering Coordinator (plus sub contract hire) your focus will be on ensuring plant equipment and line efficiencies are maintained while optimising maintenance costs. Your cous will be on structuring the maintenance team to effectively fix site breakdowns whilst moving the department to a more structured, preventative minded function. Specifically you will:
- Optimise maintenance costs while maintaining high machine and production line efficiency.
- Manage maintenance budgets (circa $8m), operating plans, and capital improvement projects.
- Implement and oversee SAP Preventative Maintenance and condition monitoring programs.
- Ensure equipment reliability through effective spare parts management and rapid breakdown response.
- Promote a robust safety-first culture with a focus on zero injuries, quality, and KPI achievement.
- Support “Right First Time” and “On Time In Full” operational performance standards.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, hygiene and safety procedures, and industry regulations, leading incident reporting, investigations, and resolution of equipment damage.
About You
You are a proven Maintenance/ Engineering Manager/ Leader who ideally came up through the trades route. You will be a personable leader with a high degree of mechanical proficiency (with understanding of electrical engineering) and be able to evidence having run maintenance for a complex, high volume FMCG processing facility. You have a depth of experience with preventative maintenance, exposure to automation engineering and come from the food or drinks manufacturing space, above all you are a Manager, used to getting the best out of teams and organising them in order to achieve success.
