Financial Accountant (12 Month Fixed Term)

About the role

This 12-month fixed term role reports to the Finance Controller, and contributes directly to accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations for assigned Yara Pilbara entities, while driving continuous improvement and digital enablement by leveraging SAP, Power BI, and automation tools to optimise processes and enhance reporting accuracy. This role is pivotal in maintaining financial integrity, supporting audit and tax compliance, and enhancing the efficiency and value of finance processes through automation and collaboration.

What you’ll do day-to-day

- Take ownership of financial reporting for a group of entities, while partnering with your counterpart to ensure seamless support across the business.
- Execute month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, reporting, and compliance deliverables, ensuring timely and accurate financial results.
- Support tax, treasury, audit, statutory reporting, capital expenditure accounting, and cost control activities in line with IFRS and internal control requirements.
- Partner with finance, operations, procurement, and project teams to deliver practical financial insights that support smarter, faster business decisions.
- Play an active role in finance transformation by using Power BI, SAP, our data warehouse, and automation tools to replace manual processes, reduce inefficiencies,



and improve the quality and accessibility of financial information.
- Build dashboards and reports, identify opportunities to streamline workflows, and help embed better use of data across finance and the broader business.

About you

- Degree qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or Finance.
- 5+ years experience in a financial accounting role, ideally within a high-volume, multi-currency environment.
- Experience using SAP and HFM.
- Strong financial accounting and reporting knowledge.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.




- Advanced Excel skills and an interest in data analytics and reporting tools, including Power BI.
- A proactive, curious mindset and passion for continuous improvement.
- Experience with joint venture accounting and reporting is highly regarded.
- Experience with data warehouses, SQL or automation tools is highly regarded.
- Full Australian working rights for the duration of the contract.
