The Department of Corrections (DOC) plays an important role in keeping our communities secure by helping break the cycle of crime, reduce reoffending and improve the lives of offenders through education, training and employment opportunities.

Under the newly developed Rehabilitation and Reintegration (R&R;) Framework the Clinical Rehabilitation team requires senior psychologists to support our team of psychologists, social workers and Aboriginal Program Facilitators to deliver offence related intensive treatment programs. This role plays a critical part in reducing re-offending and improving community safety through supporting the delivery of evidence-based rehabilitation programs within a custodial environment.

In this influential role, you will work with complex and high‑risk offenders, delivering evidence-based interventions while contributing to innovative, culturally responsive rehabilitation programs—particularly for Aboriginal people in the correctional system. About the role

- Deliver specialised psychological assessments, treatment, and risk evaluations for high‑risk offenders
- Lead the development and delivery of offence‑specific therapeutic programs and training packages
- Provide clinical supervision and mentoring to psychologists, staff, and trainees
- Contribute to the design and implementation of clinical policies, frameworks, and program manuals

- Help build culturally appropriate programs and strengthen service delivery across diverse populations

Why This Role Matters

In return you will be rewarded with a competitive salary package including 6 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, negotiable flexible work arrangements, supervision, and an opportunity to experience the uniqueness of living in the Northern Territory.

What you’ll bring

- Registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA (unconditional) and eligibility for APS membership
- Strong experience assessing and treating high‑risk sexual and violent offenders
- Expertise in criminogenic risk assessment and psychological interventions
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and deliver clinical training
- Experience in program development, evaluation, and evidence-based practice
