Field Engineer – Well Testing

Type of contract: Permanent
Roster: Full Time

Job Description

To support Reservoir Performance operations in Australasia, the Field Engineer will focus on Surface Well Testing operations, including planning, execution, management of well test equipment, and analysis to support reservoir evaluation and production strategies.

Responsibilities

- Prepare, mobilize, and set up well testing equipment at the rig or well site.
- Supervise and participate in rig‑up and rig‑down of well test packages.
- Conduct well test operations, including data acquisition, sampling, pressure, and flow measurements.
- Monitor and control process parameters during surface well testing to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues in the field, performing routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Record, interpret, and report test results, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records for each job.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory regulations.
- Liaise with clients, drilling teams, and other service providers to coordinate testing activities.
- Provide on‑site technical advice and support to junior operators and clients.

Other Responsibilities

- Ensure that people, equipment and materials arrive on time on location and are rigged up, tested, and ready to perform the job with no deviations from SESS standards and contingency plans in place.
- Ensure pre‑job meetings are held with Surface well testing, TCP/DST personnel, client and third‑party personnel; be accountable for the complete service delivery process to the client.
- Execute successful jobs as per the design provided and approved by the client.




- Recognize risks associated with the operation and reduce these risks to as low as reasonably possible.
- Identify any potential unplanned changes to the job program at the well site and initiate the district's Management of Change procedure(s).
- Prepare job design including gun planning, SPAN modelling to determine charge performance.
- Ensure compliance of all well testing employees and contractors at the work site with Surface Testing/TCP/DST/RSA safety standards and other relevant standards.
- Ensure that all personnel assigned are competent to drive and/or operate their assigned equipment.
- Complete all required pre and post‑job paperwork and job tickets on time and without error as per company policies.
- Ensure preventive maintenance on downhole equipment is as per TLM standards and in safe, clean, and proper working condition for the next service job.
- Perform CAT self‑assessments to ensure compliance with Surface Testing/DST/TCP/RSA and SLB QHSE standards.
- Participate in the District HS&E; & Quality initiatives and programs (e.g., SOIMs, risk assessments, quality improvements, emergency response plan, HSE and SQ objectives, LPT and SQC).
- Perform risk analysis (e.g., HARC, JSA) before each job or task and identify & address potential safety hazards; correct and report hazards immediately in QUEST or to supervisor.
- Develop technical knowledge in design and evaluation working closely with the mentor.




- Work with manager and TDS to prepare for future career options.

Requirements

- Reside in Australia and have the full right to live and work in Australia including offshore.
- No travel restrictions and open to relocation in Australia based on company requirement.
- Ability to maintain, prepare, and dispatch equipment.
- Ability to maintain high quality of service delivery, in terms of safety, quality and efficiency of operation.
- Ability to run required services, supervise operations, manage people, and interact with clients and other related parties.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills essential.
- Available to start as soon as possible.

Qualifications and Experience

- Degree or diploma in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Experience in oilfield surface well testing, flow measurement, or production testing operations.
- Solid mechanical aptitude and familiarity with well test equipment and instrumentation.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work in remote locations and rotational schedules.
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Surface well testing.
- SPT flow and data.
- OFS‑2 and OFS‑3.
