Opportunity to be involved

The Analyst Actuarial Reserving and Capital support ARPC's actuarial reserving, capital and liquidity management activities. Working with the Manager Actuarial Reserving and Capital, you will contribute to statutory valuations, financial projections and modelling that support key business decisions and Australia's resilience.

Role responsibilities

- Support the delivery of actuarial reserving, capital and liquidity modelling under the guidance of the Manager Actuarial Reserving and Capital.
- Support statutory liability valuations for outstanding claims and premium liabilities in accordance with professional standards and ARPC policies.
- Prepare, reconcile, validate and analyse data used in reserving and capital models.
- Maintain and enhance ARPC's capital projection model and contribute to annual forward financial projections.
- Model ARPC's cashflow and liquidity requirements to support effective liquidity management.
- Produce analysis and insights on reserving and capital management matters for senior management and the Board.
- Contribute to actuarial sections of the Financial Outlook Report, Corporate Plan and Annual Report.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve actuarial modelling, automation, governance and reporting processes.




- Support sound risk management practices across reserving and capital activities.
- Proactively identify risks, implement mitigating actions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Other

- Support broader actuarial activities and provide assistance across the actuarial team as required.
- Participate in corporate projects and cross-functional initiatives.
- Contribute to ARPC's risk culture by embedding risk management into day-to-day activities.

Candidate attributes

Qualifications

- Tertiary qualification in Economics, Actuarial Studies, Finance, Statistics or Commerce - Mandatory
- Completion of part 1 and part 2 subjects and progression towards becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia - Desirable

Experience

- 1–3 years' experience in insurance, reinsurance or financial services - Desirable
- Working knowledge of financial services (insurance, reinsurance and/or banking) - Desirable

Technical capability

- Experience using programming languages such as SQL, SAS, R, Python.
- Robust Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving capability with the ability to derive meaningful insights from complex data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in developing legislative and regulatory interpretation and application skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

Note

The role is based in Sydney CBD.

You must be an Australian citizen and be able to obtain an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.
