We're on the lookout for a Specialist, Accounting Operations (PTP & Lease Accounting) to join our Finance team in Thornleigh. In this role, you'll support the Procure-to-Pay (PTP) and Lease Accounting functions within our Local Accounting Operations team — operating within a process-aligned, globally integrated model and partnering closely with our offshore service providers (Genpact) to ensure accurate, timely and compliant financial processing. You'll act as the primary point of contact for managing escalations and ensuring adherence to accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements — while supporting continuous improvement in a transformed operating environment.

What you can expect on a day-to-day basis?

- Acting as a day-to-day accounting liaison between the market, market controller, and third-party service provider
- Supporting issue resolution, dispute management, and escalation processes with scaled services to ensure timely outcomes
- Coordinating urgent payment requests, ensuring appropriate approvals, documentation, and policy adherence
- Providing invoice coding guidance and ensure accurate accounting treatment in line with policies and standards
- Coordinating with Real Estate, Finance, and offshore teams on lease-related matters and changes impacting accounting treatment
- Monitoring operational outputs and reports, identifying issues and driving timely resolution
- Reviewing financial reporting and reconciliations prepared by scaled services to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Supporting month-end close activities, ensuring critical deadlines are met with accuracy and quality




- Serving as a key point of contact for market finance teams and relevant corporate stakeholders
- Proactively identifying process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, and control effectiveness
- Supporting standardization, documentation, and optimization of accounting processes and ways of working
- Contributing to the ongoing evolution of Accounting Operations in a scaled service delivery setting
- Ensuring adherence to company policies, approval matrices, and documentation standards
- Supporting preparation and posting of journals where required, maintaining appropriate audit evidence
- Supporting the transition to a process-driven, globally integrated operating model
- Applying company policies and procedures, including SOX controls and audit evidence requirements
- Escalating transactional and system anomalies, including internal control compliance issues, to the manager as they arise
- Meeting team objectives and metrics, supporting the business to achieve company-wide goals
- Demonstrating in-depth knowledge of processes and procedures and take a proactive role in improving efficiency
- Providing clear guidance on compliance to procedures and processes with both internal and external customers

Your keys to success:

- Studying towards or completed a Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
- Studying towards or completed CPA or CA qualification




- High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in work
- Ethical, responsible, and holds self-accountable
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- 1+ year prior experience in a similar role
- McDonald's restaurant experience
- Process improvement experience
