School Psychologist – 0.4 FTE – Eglinton Public School

School psychologists are an essential part of the Department’s school counselling service and work in both primary and high schools. They provide counselling and psychological assessment of students to strengthen learning and wellbeing outcomes, and help families understand and manage their children’s mental health needs.

About the Role

• Part‑time: 0.4 FTE (Full‑time equivalent)
• Location: Eglinton Public School

• Professional supervision with the Senior Psychologist Education and group supervision with the broader school counselling team
• Collaboration with school communities, colleagues, and outside agencies as part of a multidisciplinary team

Key Accountabilities

- Provide counselling and psychological services to students individually and in groups, including short‑term therapeutic interventions within the limits of training and supervision.
- Implement procedures of the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
- Work with the principal, school executive, staff,



and student support services to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes and implement departmental priorities.
- Contribute to the social, emotional, and academic development of students and support those with complex behavioural needs.
- Administer cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments, report results, and collaborate to improve outcomes.
- Collaborate with learning and support teams, parents, carers, and agencies to develop appropriate school‑based support.
- Respond to serious incidents as part of a team.
- Refer students or families to other agencies to support health and wellbeing outcomes.

Essential Requirements

1. Knowledge and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy, Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG Inc., and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy.
2. General or Provisional Psychology Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
3. Valid current Working with Children Check clearance – WWCC NSW.
4. Current and valid driver’s licence with ability and willingness to travel between work sites.
5. Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
