Offer Description

- T1-4 Special Skills Placement for the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) with an prospect to work and teach in the Master of Medicine
- Located at The University of Sydney School of Medicine, Camperdown Campus - Start Dates Feb 2027 and August 2027
- 2 Part‑time (0.5 FTE) positions, 6 months fixed term with a base salary of $132,533 p.a. pro rata, plus leave loading and employer’s contribution to superannuation

About the opportunity

The University of Sydney Medical School is the largest provider of vocational medical education in Australasia and is at the forefront of online learning for clinicians. The Master of Medicine (Critical Care) was established in 2015 and has a significant enrolment of students and alumni. Lecturers will assist in the development of learning materials and assessment items, contribute to unit of study teaching activities (mainly online with on‑campus workshops in some units), facilitate and moderate online discussion forums and webinars, monitor student progress, provide feedback and remediation, and mark assignments and examination papers. You will contribute to ongoing quality improvement and educational research activity in the Critical Care program.

Responsibilities

- Undertake teaching in the discipline of critical care medicine and apply scholarly activity to inform teaching and learning practice in the Master of Medicine (Critical Care Medicine) program
- Engage in high‑quality teaching and learning experiences that meet the University’s expectations and standards
- Suggest, implement, and evaluate improvements and innovations in teaching and learning, under guidance of senior academic staff




- Develop an understanding of best practice in teaching and learning within the discipline, including engagement with relevant scholarly literature

About you

- T1-4 trainee in the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) registrar training program
- Medical graduate (MD, MBBS or equivalent), and eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Experience in conducting original research and/or engaging in scholarly activity
- Experience in teaching and learning, evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in a variety of settings
- Demonstrated understanding of the subject‑matter within the discipline
- Developing knowledge and understanding of key issues in the higher education sector

This is a part‑time position at 0.5 FTE for 6 months (approximately 2.5 days per week) with flexible work hours.

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment; visa sponsorship is not available.

Pre‑employment checks and declarations

Employment is conditional upon successful completion of all pre‑employment or background checks required for the role. The University’s obligations under the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Eliminate Gender‑Based Violence will be met by declaration of any investigations or findings regarding sexual harm or gender‑based violence in prior employment or legal process. Ongoing employment is also conditional upon satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements.
