The Role
The Manager Procurement Support leads a team of five advisors and administrators who provide construction procurement, sourcing, and contract management support for major capital and maintenance programmes across Victoria. The role also oversees the Roads Prequalification Scheme and contributes to procurement strategy and continuous improvement across the department.
Key responsibilities include:
- Improving the Roads Prequalification Scheme
- Driving process efficiencies
- Leading and supporting the team
- Providing expert construction procurement advice
- Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders
- Achieving quality procurement outcomes in a fast‑paced environment while supporting critical construction and maintenance projects.
Selection Criteria
You’re someone who:
- Leads innovation and continuous improvement, driving quality outcomes, improving processes, and implementing effective solutions that enhance services for stakeholders and customers.
- Applies strong business and commercial acumen, identifying opportunities to improve value, manage risk, and increase operational efficiency to support organisational objectives.
- Influences and engages stakeholders effectively, building support, gaining commitment to initiatives, and leveraging expert input to achieve positive outcomes.
- Develops and leads high‑performing teams,
aligning workforce capabilities with strategic priorities, optimising team performance, and fostering a productive work setting.
- Demonstrates strong procurement and contract management expertise, leading procurement planning, sourcing, supplier engagement, negotiation, and contract management activities to deliver strategic and value‑driven outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Significant demonstrated experience in construction procurement and a proven ability to lead and motivate high‑performing teams (mandatory).
- Strong expertise in driving and delivering major change initiatives across public and/or private sector environments.
- A sound understanding of contract law, procurement governance, negotiation frameworks, and best‑practice procurement processes.
