About the Role
Intermodal Group is seeking an experienced and driven Terminal Manager to oversee all aspects of operations at our North Quay Rail Terminal , located within the Fremantle Port.
Reporting to the Operations Manager , the Terminal Manager leads a multi‑shift operational team within a live port environment. This role is accountable for daily terminal performance, safety outcomes, workforce planning and compliance.
This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to someone with a solid background in rail, transport or terminal operations who enjoys working in a fast‑paced operational environment and takes pride in running a high‑performing site.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily terminal operations to ensure safe, effective and timely movement of freight.
- Lead, motivate and manage operational teams, fostering a positive and values‑driven workplace culture.
- Plan rosters and allocate tasks to ensure shifts are adequately staffed and compliant with workforce requirements.
- Ensure train loading is executed according to plan, including verification of train consists and prioritisation of urgent freight.
- Maintain terminal equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition and elevate issues promptly.
- Liaise with Planning, Customer Service and other internal teams to ensure operational readiness.
- Actively drive safety,
fatigue management and compliance with all HSE, COR and legislative requirements.
- Conduct toolbox talks, audits, inspections and reviews of operational practices and documentation.
- Monitor and report on terminal performance, KPIs, incidents and compliance indicators.
- Manage performance and behavioural matters in line with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain high standards of presentation, housekeeping and organisation across the terminal yard.
What You Will Bring
- Proven yard‑based operational experience (essential).
- Demonstrated experience leading teams, including rostering, shift planning and task allocation (essential).
- Strong container and transport operations knowledge and experience (essential).
- Wharf or port terminal experience (desirable).
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to engage and influence teams and stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence working across operational and support teams.
- Sound computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- A proactive, safety‑focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
