Employment Type: Full-time, Tuesday to Saturday, approx. 6:00am–2:00pm

Bakehouse on Somerville is a busy, community‑loved bakery in Winthrop, serving fresh food, outstanding coffee and good vibes every day.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a reliable, organized and self‑motivated Kitchen Lead to take ownership of our kitchen operations. This is currently a standalone role, so we need someone who can manage their own time, follow daily prep lists, keep things running smoothly and make sure the front‑of‑house team has what they need for a great day.

This isn’t just a behind‑the‑scenes role — you’ll be part of the flow of the whole shop!

What you’ll be doing

- Preparing toasties, filled rolls, quiches and hot food
- Prepping ingredients and keeping production flowing throughout the day
- Jumping in to support service when needed — taking orders, handing out food and helping keep things moving
- Managing salad bar ingredients and pie stock levels
- Handling Uber Eats, DoorDash and in‑store food orders during your shift
- Assisting with catering orders and helping grow this side of the business
- Ordering kitchen stock, monitoring inventory and putting away deliveries
- Maintaining food safety standards,



including temp checks, labelling and correct storage
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and stocked
- Continuously improving systems and routines as the business grows

About you

- Experience in a commercial kitchen, café, bakery or similar food prep environment
- Happy to jump in and help wherever needed — not just stay in the kitchen
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently
- Confident following checklists, prep sheets and daily routines
- Takes pride in a clean, well‑run workspace
- Has a Food Safety Supervisor or Food Handlers certificate (or willing to obtain one)
- Available Tuesday to Saturday, approx. 6:00am–2:00pm
