We are seeking an experienced Service Now Technical Architect to support the ongoing administration, development and strategic direction of a major Australian Government Service Now platform. Working alongside internal teams, external vendors and key stakeholders, you will provide architectural guidance while taking a hands-on role in platform administration, configuration, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic advice on Service Now architecture and platform direction
- Lead the administration and ongoing development of the platform
- Troubleshoot and resolve platform incidents and technical issues
- Deliver minor enhancements and configuration changes
- Review technical designs and help prevent technical debt
- Advise on licensing, patching and platform upgrade strategies
- Support platform security, hardening and development best practices
- Manage platform onboarding and access for external vendors
- Monitor vendor development quality and compliance
- Produce technical, design and security documentation
- Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, developers, architects and testers
- Mentor and upskill internal team members
- Communicate technical matters clearly to executives and non-technical stakeholders
Essential requirements
- At least five years’ experience administering Service Now platforms
- Experience or strong knowledge of the Service Now Protected Platform
- Strong knowledge of Service Now concepts and tools, including:
- Knowledge Management
- Flow Designer
- Service Bridge
- Scripting
- Notifications
- Strong understanding of IT Service Management principles
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and incident-resolution experience
- Ability to provide informed technical advice for executive decision-making and strategic planning
- Solid stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with internal teams and external vendors
Highly desirable
- Service Now experience within an Australian Government environment
- Experience with Strategic Portfolio Management
- Experience with HR Service Delivery
- Experience with Workplace Health and Safety modules
- Strong knowledge of ICT development and security best practices
- Experience working in fast-paced Agile environments
- Experience working with geographically dispersed teams
- Awareness of accessibility requirements and current WCAG standards
The role is based in Canberra and supports flexible hybrid working arrangements. Candidates based outside the ACT may be considered for remote arrangements on a case-by-case basis, subject to operational requirements.
