Active projects include the Osborne copper‑gold processing facility, the world’s highest‑grade molybdenum and rhenium deposit, and the flagship Mount Elliott copper‑gold system.

Role

The Senior Exploration Geologist reports to the Exploration Manager. The role leads and executes exploration programs targeting metal resources, providing technical expertise, operational leadership, and strategic guidance from early‑stage exploration through to resource definition.

Responsibilities

- Field‑based mapping, sampling and, where required, supervision of contractors.
- Preparation of detailed exploration programs to meet specific project milestones.
- Implementation of drilling, geochemistry and geophysical programs to test 3‑D targets.
- Milestone planning and budgeting with clearly identified outcomes.
- Preparation of drilling programs and budgets.
- Liaising with and supervising contractors.
- Logging, sampling, QA/QC and application of best‑practice geoscientific principles.
- Ensuring all data collected is reviewed and assessed prior to uploading to the geological database (e.g., Geobank).
- Implementation and monitoring of exploration programs in support of Zero Harm through participation in SHEC procedures and initiatives.
- Preparation of technical reports, presentations and statutory documentation.

Strategic Planning & Execution

- Contribute to the development of exploration strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
- Identify and evaluate new project opportunities and mineral prospects.
- Prioritise exploration targets based on geological potential, risk and economic considerations.




- Develop short‑ and long‑term exploration plans, including budgets and resource allocation.
- Support business cases for project advancement, including scoping and feasibility inputs.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on portfolio management and exploration investment decisions.
- Drive innovation in exploration techniques, technologies and data analysis.

Qualifications

- Minimum Bachelor of Science with Honours in Geology.
- Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in precious metals, iron‑oxide copper‑gold (IOCG) and base‑metal exploration.
- Demonstrable track record of involvement in mineral discovery and project generation.
- Sound technical knowledge of exploration methods and techniques, IOCG mineral systems, gold‑copper and base‑metal deposits.
- Proficiency in GIS and 3‑D modelling software such as Micromine, MapInfo and QGIS.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manipulate, evaluate and integrate multiple levels of geoscientific data.
- Strong interpretation of multielement geochemistry data.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Valuable understanding of tenement management requirements.
- Pro‑active, self‑starter capable of working in a professional team.
- Current “C” class manual driver’s licence.

Practical Requirements

Permanent FIFO opportunity on an 8/6 roster. Candidates must have the right to live and work in Australia. Points of hire are Townsville and Brisbane.
