Wyong ED is looking for Stage 3 or 4 Advanced Emergency Medicine trainees with a passion for POCUS to join our team for Ultrasound Special Skills Placement positions available in 2027.

The Trainees will be working 0.50 FTE clinically in the Wyong Emergency Department and 0.50 FTE in the Ultrasound Special Skills Placement for a 6 months duration, with 2 positions available each year (one first half, one second half). This position will provide significant exposure to POCUS across all major modalities as recommended by ACEM.

Successfully appointed Trainees will have access to:

- Opportunities to gain significantexperience and accreditation across all core Emergency Medicine POCUS examinations(eFAST, AAA, FELS, Lung, and Procedural)
- Exposure tospecialised areas of ultrasound(eg. Biliary, Renal, DVT, Early Pregnancy and others) throughout the placement




- Formal accreditationof POCUS examinations through CCPU certification if desired – the term is now an accredited CCPU unit course provider with ASUM
- Protected scanning timewithin the Emergency Department to develop ultrasound scanning proficiency and complete logbooks for accreditation and/or CCPU certification – there is absolute separation between Ultrasound and ED clinical shifts
- Close clinical supervision, teaching, and support from a FACEM group with extensive ultrasound experience, includingFACEMs with CCPU accreditation. There are now also several FACEMs working towards their DDU.
- Valuable learning experience in ultrasound from medical sonographers
- Teaching opportunitiesat local Ultrasound workshops
