Position Summary

Position based at the College of Engineering, Information and Technology, Adelaide CBD Campus. Part-time (0.8 FTE) on a 24-month fixed-term contract.

Salary range: $103,962-111,384 per annum (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

Responsibilities

- Conduct interdisciplinary research on renewable energy transitions, focusing on solar photovoltaic and other renewable-energy technologies within urban contexts.
- Apply advanced modelling approaches, including integrated assessment modelling, material-flow analysis and life-cycle assessment.
- Develop robust and reproducible workflows using large, heterogeneous datasets such as climate projections, electricity-infrastructure records, solar-resource data, urban geospatial data and economic input-output tables.
- Analyse the economic, environmental and technical performance of solar-PV deployment pathways.
- Investigate the impact of climate and weather hazards on solar-energy infrastructure resilience and wider energy-system reliability.

Qualifications

- PhD in environmental economics, energy economics, resource economics, human geography, industrial ecology, or a related field.
- Experience evaluating the economic performance of solar-PV technologies across alternative deployment pathways.
- Experience analysing urban solar-PV deployment in relation to critical-material demand, technology choice and end-of-life management.
- Experience with integrated assessment modelling,



material-flow analysis, life-cycle assessment or related methods.
- Experience investigating the relationships between climate/weather hazards, infrastructure vulnerability and energy-system reliability.
- Ability to assess how extreme events and long-term climatic changes affect solar electricity generation and reliability.
- Advanced quantitative programming and data-analysis skills (preferably in Python) and ability to develop transparent, robust and reproducible modelling workflows.
- Experience working with large heterogeneous datasets useful for renewable-energy research.
