Operations Superintendent – Drilling Operations
Edge Drilling is seeking an Operations Superintendent to lead and manage our growing drilling operations across Western Australia. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving operational performance, developing high‑performing teams, maintaining robust client relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will provide operational leadership across multiple drilling projects, overseeing personnel, equipment, safety, maintenance, client engagement and project delivery. You will play a key role in supporting business growth while championing our core values of Respect, Integrity, Safety and Excellence (RISE).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead safe and efficient drilling operations across multiple projects.
- Manage and support supervisors, drillers and field personnel to achieve operational objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all HSE, quality, environmental and client requirements.
- Foster a proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate workforce mobilisation, training, competency development and succession planning.
- Manage project resources, equipment utilisation and operational costs.
- Oversee maintenance scheduling and equipment performance to maximise fleet availability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors and suppliers.
- Support tendering activities, project planning, RFQs and contract delivery.
- Monitor project performance against operational, financial and contractual KPIs.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
About You
In this role, you will have:
- Extensive experience within the drilling industry.
- Certificate IV in Drilling Operations.
- Proven leadership experience managing drilling teams and field operations.
- Strong understanding of safety systems, risk management and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Sound commercial and project management capability.
- Current HR driver’s licence.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems.
Highly Desirable
- Strong operational knowledge of diamond, geotechnical or sonic drilling.
- Frontline Management qualification or equivalent.
- Section 26 knowledge or robust understanding of WA mining legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing multi‑rig operations across mining, geotechnical or exploration projects.
