The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our billing and payments product team in Australia. This full‑stack role will design, build and improve high‑value features that support the movement of hundreds of millions of dollars every day. You will work independently while collaborating with product, engineering and client teams across the globe.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain high‑quality, testable and maintainable code in the billing and payments system.
- Use AI‑tools to analyse codebases, answer architectural questions and accelerate system understanding.
- Ensure security, quality, scalability and performance are maintained at all times.
- Diagnose issues using tools and provide timely solutions.
- Communicate effectively with engineering, product and client teams; participate in client meetings when required.
- Engage in solutioning meetings, debating design choices in a collaborative manner.





Technical Requirements

- Robust Java development experience.
- Deep knowledge of relational databases (MySQL) and object‑oriented concepts.
- Spring Core / Spring MVC / Hibernate experience is a plus.
- Front‑end skills: HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JSP.
- Comfortable using AI‑assisted development tools and writing comprehensive tests for new code.

Qualifications

- Self‑reliant, proactive engineer who owns tasks and seeks leadership when needed.
- Adaptable learner able to work with legacy code and deliver on time.
- Good at turning high‑level goals into actionable technical designs.
- Excellent communicator, comfortable working with diverse teams across time zones.
- 10+ years of professional application development experience.
- Proven production Java developer.
- Experience in FinTech or Higher Education sectors is highly appreciated.
- Ability to deliver high‑quality code in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
