About the role

The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, building designers, project managers, estimators, contractors and site teams to prepare accurate civil and structural drawings and technical documentation.

This role requires strong attention to detail, sound technical knowledge and the ability to manage drawing revisions throughout each stage of a residential construction project.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare detailed civil and structural drawings for single storey and double storey residential developments
- Produce site plans, footing plans, slab layouts, drainage plans, stormwater plans, retaining wall details and structural construction drawings
- Interpret engineering designs, architectural plans, survey information and technical specifications
- Prepare drawings using AutoCAD
- Review and revise drawings following engineering feedback, design changes and site requirements
- Maintain accurate drawing registers, revision records and project documentation
- Coordinate drawings with engineers, building designers, surveyors, certifiers, contractors and project managers
- Identify design conflicts, construction issues and inconsistencies before drawings are issued
- Assist with the preparation of material quantities, preliminary cost estimates and technical schedules
- Prepare as constructed drawings and update documentation following changes made during construction
- Respond to technical drawing queries from site supervisors, contractors and consultants




- Ensure drawings comply with relevant Australian Standards, building regulations, engineering requirements and company procedures
- Attend project sites from time to time to take measurements, verify existing conditions and confirm construction details
- Support the project team with technical documentation and other drafting duties as required

Qualifications and experience

- Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Construction Design, Engineering Drafting or a closely related qualification
- Relevant 3 years’ experience preparing civil and structural drawings for residential construction projects
- Experience working on single storey and double storey residential developments is highly regarded
- Strong experience using AutoCAD, Revit or similar drafting software
- Good understanding of residential construction methods, structural details, drainage systems and site development requirements
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, architectural drawings, surveys and technical specifications
