The Executive Level 1 Assistant Director will lead system integrity initiatives across aged care digital platforms, including defining project scope, managing risks, and responding to emerging threats such as web scraping. The role requires collaboration with internal and external delivery partners to coordinate risk responses, strengthen preventative controls, and uplift monitoring and assurance processes.

The Assistant Director will translate complex technical issues into clear advice for senior executives, ensure digital solutions align with business intent and funding, and build capability across the branch, including upskilling staff on system processes. This role involves leadership, strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, and delivering outcomes in a complex environment. Candidates will gain experience in digital risk management, cross-agency collaboration, executive communication, and driving reform in a high-priority service delivery context.

The key duties of the position include:

We are seeking a high-performing Assistant Director (EL1) with strong leadership, analytical, and stakeholder engagement capabilities to support the delivery of system integrity initiatives across digital platforms.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• The ability to lead and deliver complex digital or system integrity projects, including risk identification, mitigation, and assurance activities

• Strong analytical skills, with experience responding to emerging digital threats and translating technical issues into explicit, actionable advice for executives

• Proven stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills,



including working effectively across multidisciplinary teams and external delivery partners

• Experience developing and uplifting governance, monitoring, and assurance frameworks within digital or ICT environments

• Sound judgement and strategic thinking aligned with APS EL1 work level standards, with the ability to deliver outcomes in a complex policy and delivery context

• Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to clearly articulate risks and solutions to senior stakeholders

• Experience building team capability through mentoring, guidance, and improving system and process knowledge

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time an offer of employment is made.
