Underground water truck operator - Accommodation/ Housing options available

About the role

Copper City Contracting is seeking a skilled Underground Water Truck Operator to join our operations team in Cobar, NSW. This is a full-time position based on-site at our mining operations. As an Underground Water Truck Operator, you will play a critical role in maintaining safe and productive underground mining environments by delivering water and dust suppression services. Your work will be essential to ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and supporting the smooth operation of our mining activities.

Key responsibilities

- Operate and maintain water truck equipment in underground mining environments, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of water for dust suppression and operational requirements

- Conduct pre-start safety checks on vehicles and equipment to ensure all systems are functioning correctly

- Navigate underground roads and tunnels safely, adhering to speed limits and traffic management protocols

- Monitor water levels and distribution systems, maintaining optimal coverage across designated work areas

- Communicate effectively with mining personnel, supervisors and other operators to coordinate water delivery activities

- Respond promptly to water supply requests and adapt operations to changing site conditions

- Maintain detailed records of water distribution, fuel consumption and equipment maintenance

- Comply with all mining safety regulations, company policies and environmental requirements

- Participate in toolbox meetings, safety briefings and ongoing training programmes

- Report any equipment malfunctions,



safety hazards or operational concerns to supervision immediately

- Must be abel to pass drug and alcohol testing.

- Must be abel to complete pre employment Medical and functional.

What we're looking for

- Current or recently expired Heavy Vehicle Licence (HV) or Light Rigid (LR) licence

- Proven experience operating water trucks or similar heavy vehicles, preferably in underground or confined mining environments. All training will be provided

- Sound knowledge of health and safety practices relevant to underground mining operations

- Competency in pre-start vehicle inspections and basic vehicle maintenance

- Strong communication and coordination skills to work effectively with mining teams

- Ability to work independently and follow instructions precisely in a disciplined working environment

- Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging underground conditions, including shifts and irregular hours

- Valid First Aid certification or willingness to obtain this qualification

- Underground mining induction qualification (or willingness to complete as part of your onboarding)

- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality and commitment to safety excellence
