Every now and then, an opportunity comes along to welcome someone new to our team.
We’re at that point again.
To be honest, qualifications aren’t the first thing I look at. Yes, you need to be a registered psychologist who is able to provide Medicare-funded services, but beyond that, it’s much more about who you are.
I’m looking for someone who genuinely cares about their clients, enjoys learning, values good clinical discussions, is happy to ask questions, and wants to be part of a supportive team. Whether you’re early in your career or have years of experience, that’s far more important to me than whether you’ve already found your niche.
At Nudge Psychology, we’ve always encouraged our psychologists to develop the areas they’re most passionate about. Before that happens, though, we ask everyone to be willing to work across a variety of referral types while they build experience and confidence. We’ve found that creates stronger clinicians and often helps people discover where their real interests lie.
