Software Engineer (Optimisation)

Green Light Worldwide have a requirement with our client partner for a Software Engineer to join their team for an initial 12-month with potential to extend.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain optimisation algorithms and core business logic using C++ and optimisation modelling tools.
- Integrate commercial optimisation solvers into existing software platforms.
- Design, build, and enhance desktop applications that support scenario modelling and analysis.
- Develop APIs and data integrations with enterprise systems and external applications.
- Support automation, batch processing, and optimisation workflow execution.
- Analyse and improve application performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Contribute to testing, source control, build management, and continuous improvement activities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver solutions that support planning and operational decision-making.

Requirements

- Solid commercial experience in C++ software development.
- Experience working with mathematical optimisation, linear programming (LP), or mixed-integer programming (MIP).
- Experience with optimisation modelling frameworks such as AMPL or similar tools.
- Experience integrating optimisation solvers such as Gurobi, CPLEX, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience building and supporting desktop applications using .NET technologies.
- Experience developing APIs and integrating third-party applications and enterprise systems.




- Knowledge of SQL Server and working with large and complex datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with performance tuning, scalability, and automation frameworks.
- Exposure to mining, mine planning, scheduling, supply chain optimisation, or operational planning environments is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with GitHub, Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, and related development tools.
