About the Role:
As a Family and Domestic Violence Support Practitioner, you will provide trauma-informed, client-centred support to victim-survivors of family and domestic violence. Working within a skilled and supportive team, you will assist clients to improve safety, strengthen wellbeing, build resilience and break cycles of violence.
You will provide risk assessment, safety planning, psychoeducation, advocacy and case management while ensuring all services are delivered in accordance with best practice and ethical standards.
What We're Looking For
Essential compliance documents
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Current Working with Children Check.
• Australian Federal Police Clearance obtained within the last 6 months.
• Current C Class Driver's Licence.
• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
Skills and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Community Services, Family and Domestic Violence (FDV), or a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in mental health assessment, risk assessment, safety planning, and crisis intervention.
- Experience delivering client-centred support services to individuals and families impacted by Family and Domestic Violence.
- Strong understanding of the social, cultural, and historical factors affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with the ability to provide culturally safe and responsive services.
- Demonstrated understanding of the diverse challenges experienced by people from vulnerable backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, and people who identify as LGBTIQA+.
- Proven ability to work effectively and respectfully with clients from diverse cultural and social backgrounds while maintaining culturally safe and inclusive practices.
- Excellent organisational, administrative, and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Sound understanding of professional obligations relating to duty of care, privacy, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
- Experience delivering educational, preventative, and group-based programs, including workshops and community engagement activities.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
- Well-developed computer literacy skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain appropriate professional boundaries while ensuring client confidentiality and safety.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and foster positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
