Hyperbaric and Charging Systems Engineer
Location: Sydney (Permanent full-time). This position requires a Baseline Defence Security Clearance or higher.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist systems engineering expertise and technical guidance for diving systems, hyperbaric equipment, and charging facilities.
- Deliver engineering support, including engineering changes, sustainment activities, and technical outcomes in accordance with approved plans, processes, and standards.
- Provide engineering assurance and technical oversight across systems engineering, configuration management, safety, certification, and materiel support activities.
- Manage systems engineering activities including requirements development, integration, verification and validation, testing, and engineering certification.
- Conduct technical reviews, design assessments, and risk assessments within delegated engineering authority.
- Support engineering governance by ensuring systems meet applicable standards, specifications, regulatory requirements, and fitness‑for‑purpose expectations.
- Review engineering documentation, contractor deliverables, and technical proposals to ensure quality, value, and effective risk management.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to develop engineering solutions and resolve complex technical issues.
- Provide technical input to engineering changes, problem resolutions, and configuration management activities.
- Support field engineering activities and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to a safe and collaborative working environment while meeting organisational and customer requirements.
Ideal Candidate
- A Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent) qualification in a recognised engineering discipline.
- A minimum of five years’ engineering experience, preferably within a regulated technical environment.
- Experience in requirements development, design reviews, and engineering acceptance activities.
- Eligibility for Chartered Engineer registration and membership of a recognised qualified engineering body.
- The ability to obtain an SQEP Engineering Delegation Authority within an Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO).
- Australian citizenship (or permanent residency) and the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance.
- Eligibility to obtain ITAR clearance for relevant systems.
Desirable
- Experience delivering engineering outcomes within a Department of Defence environment.
- Experience in marine engineering design, maintenance, or sustainment.
- Experience working with diving systems, hyperbaric equipment, or associated charging facilities.
