About The Role

We are seeking skilled and safety‑focused Mechanical Fitters to support maintenance, and project works across an Alumina Smelter . You will be responsible for performing mechanical repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance on fixed plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operational performance. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will carry out breakdown support, planned maintenance, shutdown activities and equipment upgrades across critical processing assets.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform mechanical maintenance, repairs and fault‑finding on fixed plant equipment.
- Conduct inspections, lubrication, alignment, replacement of components and general servicing.
- Support shutdowns, project works and preventative maintenance programs.
- Work safely in operational processing environments following all permits and procedures.




- Diagnose mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions to minimise downtime.
- Collaborate with supervisors, trades and operations teams to maintain plant reliability.
- Ensure all work is completed to quality, safety and compliance standards.

About You

- Trade‑qualified Mechanical Fitter or equivalent.
- Experience in mining, minerals processing, bauxite/alumina, or heavy industrial environments.
- Robust technical ability across pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, crushers, hydraulic systems and rotating equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and work instructions.
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork and delivering high‑quality workmanship.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced operational plant environment with competing priorities.
- Tickets such as Working at Heights, Confined Space or EWP are advantageous.
