About the opportunity

Werribee Mercy Hospital has received funding to pilot the Neonatal and Postnatal Support Nurse program, employing nurses on maternity wards. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated registered nurses with a keen interest in neonatal care or a future career in midwifery to join our maternity team.

Responsibilities

This nursing role is supernumerary to the midwifery roster and complements and supports established midwifery care. It is pivotal in providing essential support alongside midwives to care for neonates requiring additional clinical care on the maternity ward.

What you’ll bring

- Minimum of one year’s experience as a Registered Nurse
- Experience in maternity, maternal and child health, women's health, neonatal, paediatrics or postoperative environment and/or relevant postgraduate qualifications (essential)




- Interest in pursuing postgraduate education in midwifery, neonatal nursing, women's health or a related field (desirable)
- Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve
- Compassionate, flexible and positive approach to patient care and management
- Ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team setting
- Membership of a nursing professional body (desirable)

You will also need to provide evidence or be in the process of obtaining

- Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check
- Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders
