Salary: $76,376 - $81,906 + Super + $5,000 Allowance + Salary Packaging Perks.
About The Role
The Family Support Worker will work alongside carer families in their homes to provide regular in-home, practical and emotional support to families daily. This includes assisting carers to attend appointments, access community groups and activities, and providing support after school and in the evenings. The role also involves continually assessing families in consultation with case workers, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders, identifying gaps in service delivery, and facilitating parenting and trauma information. The worker will create and support community and cultural network links for each family and encourage participation by the child’s family and significant others.
Key Selection Criteria
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, and awareness of current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
- Appropriate qualification and/or experience in human services or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of vulnerable children, young people and families,
including an understanding of trauma, attachment and child development.
- Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with other agencies and the community.
- Understanding of the child protection and out-of-home care service system.

Required Qualifications and Certifications
- Valid and current driver’s licence.
- Satisfactory criminal history check (paid for by MacKillop).
- Valid employee working with children check.
- Valid and current NDIS workers screening check (for risk assessed / client facing roles).
