About the role
The Australian Digital Health Agency is seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer (EL1) to play a pivotal role in strengthening and modernising the Agency’s technology environment. As a senior technical specialist, you will help drive uplift initiatives, lead system engineering activities, and support the delivery of secure, reliable digital health services used across Australia.
This is an opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, influencing enterprise-wide technology outcomes while mentoring engineers and contributing to the Agency’s strategic ICT priorities.
Skills and experience (essential criteria)
- Lead and contribute to the delivery of strategic and operational ICT initiatives across the Agency.
- Drive vulnerability management, remediation programs and security compliance activities.
- Administer and optimise Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and Intune environments.
- Support and maintain Windows Server infrastructure including Active Directory, DNS, DFS and Group Policy.
- Mentor junior team members and provide guidance across technical resolver groups including desktop.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- 5+ years’ experience administering Microsoft Azure environments.
- 5+ years’ experience with Windows Server administration and supporting enterprise infrastructure.
- 5+ Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Intune environments.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and mentor technical teams.
Highly Desirable
Experience working with the Information Security Manual (ISM) and ACSC Essential Eight Framework.
Graduate Degree in Information Technology and/or IT / Digital certifications in areas relevant to the role.
Australian citizenship is a mandatory eligibility requirement. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain both a national police clearance and a Neg Vet 1 security clearance, with the capacity to attain a higher-level clearance if required by the Agency.

Salary: This role offers between $124,583 - $142,089 plus 15.4% superannuation depending on skills and experience.
