In accordance with mental health care standards, agency policy and direction, legal and ethical requirements and professional competencies, assist in the provision of specialist rehabilitation services based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
Under supervision, participate in the referral and assessment process and contribute to care plans assigned to meet the needs of clients.
Participate in ongoing personal development by taking part in relevant training courses and ongoing education as identified in professional development reviews.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated capacity to work with people with mental illness and knowledge of client rehabilitation needs, client‑centred practice and the need to establish an workplace of support.
- Knowledge of resources and services available to support people with mental illness in the broader community, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of maintaining appropriate therapeutic relationships with clients.
- Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills,
including the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary setting.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Certificate IV in Community Services, Aged Care or Disability or Certificate IV in Mental Health (desirable).

Salary & Employment Details
- Salary: $70,033 to $75,114 per annum (pro rata) as per Health and Human Services (Tasmanian State Service) Award, General Stream, Operational Health Officer, Level 3.
- Employment type: Permanent, part‑time.
- Location: Psychiatry RHH, Royal Hobart Hospital.
- Hours: 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
