THE PROSPECT
Help shape the next generation of Sydney Swans talent as the driving force behind the QBE Sydney Swans Academy’s coaching program. Key responsibilities include:
- Primary coach – ensuring that all Academy sessions/matches are conducted and run in a professional and supportive environment,
consistent with the vision of the Swans Academy.
- Responsible for Coaching and Building a Team First Environment for U/18 Male Swans Academy Players.
- Responsible for Assistant Coaching the U/16 Male Swans Academy Team.
- Integration of the Academy coaching philosophy across our other football programs, driving cross‑club collaboration.
- Conduct game and training reviews and provide individual player and squad feedback using the most modern and effective systems and platforms.
- Under the direction of the Head of Academy, design and deliver coach education, football curriculum and talent development programs for both youth and top‑end programs.
- Under the direction of the Head of Academy, design and implement Individual Development Plans (IDP) to U18 top‑end Male Academy Players.
- Educate and deliver Resilience and Gratitude examples to Swans Academy Players.
- Under the direction of the Head of Academy, design and deliver state‑wide talent identification and assessment program.
- Ensure efficient alignment between Operations, Performance and Coaching of the Academy.
- Participate in Assessment trials and benchmark to establish talent for program.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Minimum Level 1 AFL Coaching Accreditation
- Prior coaching experience in a similar role in a high‑performance sporting environment
- A high‑level knowledge of Australian Rules football with previous playing experience
- Working with Children Check and previous experience teaching/coaching children
- Effective communication style including the ability to adapt and deliver the desired outcome
- Data analysis and visualization capability
- Collaborative and Team First approach with all Academy Staff and Players
Due to the nature of the industry, the ideal candidate must be flexible in their availability as extended hours and weekend work will be required for this role.
