Overview

Back End Staff Software Engineer (Bangkok based, Relocation provided)

This role is part of Agoda's Back-End Engineering team, focused on building scalable, fault-tolerant systems and APIs that host core business logic across inventory, pricing, product information, customer data, communications, partner data, booking systems, payments, and more.

Responsibilities

- Develop performance-critical backend applications in production environments using languages such as Scala, Java, Kotlin, C#, Go or other modern languages.
- Design and drive significant company-wide projects and set technical vision.
- Implement advanced CI/CD pipelines and robust testing strategies to ensure seamless integration, deployment, and high code quality.
- Make architectural decisions and set standards and direction for the team.
- Collaborate with global teams to deliver reliable and scalable services with high availability.

Qualifications

- 10+ years of experience developing performance-critical applications in production environments using Scala, Java, Kotlin, C#, Go or relevant modern programming languages.
- Strong RDBMS knowledge (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or other).
- Ability to direct significant company-wide projects and set technical vision.
- Good command of the English language.




- Experience in architectural decision-making and setting technical standards for the team.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and robust testing strategies.
- Passion for software development and continuous improvement of knowledge and skills.

Nice to Have

- Knowledge in NoSQL, Queueing systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, MSMQ), and Play framework.

Location & Relocation

Based in Bangkok, Thailand. Relocation provided.
