AtkinsRéalis' Engineering & Design Practice is seeking an experienced and dynamic Technical Director, Transmission to join our growing Australian team. This is a key leadership role for a highly capable professional who can provide technical excellence in transmission line engineering while driving strong commercial and project outcomes. As part of our technical leadership team, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering critical power infrastructure that supports Australia's net zero ambitions. You will contribute to landmark projects across transmission line design, from concept and feasibility through to detailed design. You'll be joining a collaborative and inclusive team where diverse perspectives are valued and empowered. The location of role is flexible across the East Coast of Australia, with hybrid-working supported and with potential offices including Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

Your role

- Provide technical leadership and oversight across transmission line engineering projects, ensuring best‑in‑class design and delivery outcomes.
- Drive innovation in overhead line design, leveraging current technologies, digital engineering tools, and sustainable practices.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate across engineering, environmental, and construction functions.




- Engage with key clients and stakeholders, influencing project direction and strengthening long‑term partnerships.
- Contribute to business strategy, identifying growth opportunities within the Australian energy and transmission market.
- Anticipate regulatory, technical, and market changes, developing forward‑thinking solutions that position AtkinsRéalis as a leader in transmission infrastructure.

About You

- A degree in Electrical or Civil/Structural Engineering or an equivalent.
- Chartership – RPEQ, NER, CPEng (desirable).
- Proven experience in the design of transmission and distribution, with expertise in Transmission Lines.
- Excellent interpersonal and technical skills with the ability to develop and lead design teams and develop strong client relationships.
- Experience working in digital engineering environments and delivering to local technical standards and guidelines.
- Commercially minded, can understand the business needs of both AtkinsRéalis and clients.
